Charge more for hotel room than the hotel does for regular customers!


After booking a room at the Hotel Colorado in Glenwood Springs, Co through Orbitz, I was charged $139.34 ($125.32 for the room plus taxes) for the night of 9/15/14. After checking out the next morning at the hotel, they ended up double charging me for the room and only charged me $109.99 for the night (total of $146.80 with room service). I have had the double charge removed by the Hotel Colorado. When I called Orbitz to ask why I was charged more through them than I would have been charged just walking into the hotel and asking for a room for that night, they told me that the $109.99 that I had seen on my hotel invoice was an accident. Orbitx claimed that it was the rate that the hotel sells them the rooms at and that the $109.99 rate shouldn't have been shared with me. After talking circles with the Orbitz customer service rep, I hung up and called the Hotel Colorado directly and asked what their regular rate for that night would have been if I had just walked in off the street and I was told that it would have been $109.99. So, I would like to know why I paid more for the base price of the room through Orbitz than I would have paid if I would have just walked in off the street. I know it is only $15.33 but I would like the difference of the room cost refunded to me. It's the principal of the matter. I thought I was paying the best deal for this room and found out that they are charging more than the hotel would have charged. Ridiculous!
