Hidden Seat Selection Charges


I purchased 3 flight tickets yesterday for my husband, my 65-year-old mother-in-law and myself. I chose 3 seats together in a row (as I usually do before paying for the tickets), then I made the payment. After a while, I went back to print out my tickets, I was surprised to see that there was no seat assigned for us. I couldn't believe it because I did choose our seats. So I went to select again and again, but it kept showing something like the seat selection is unavailable. I was really confused, because those seats were marked as available, but Orbitz just didn't let me choose them with NO explanation! On the next day, I had to call Orbitz customer service, the rep was nice, but she told me I had to pay extra $39/seat if I wanted the ones I originally selected. And she told me there were some random seats available with no extra charge, but all of them are not together. Not to mention, they all were the type of seats people usually don't want to choose if they have other choices, at least me. So I asked the rep, why didn't Orbitz website tell me that I had to pay extra for the seats I wanted before I gave my money, and all she could say was sorry. I'm really mad because Orbitz lied!! It didn't tell me I had to pay extra money before I paid for my tickets, but made me to be on the phone for a long time to realize I had to pay extra on top of the price I've already paid!
