Rental Car Rip Off from Orbitz AND thrifty


rental obtained through orbitz after airline tickets bought. thrifty was the rental co. they emailed a confirmation of $256 and said i was getting a dodge charger. i ordered a midsize, but didn't know a charger was large. thrifty in boise said i couldn't have that and i said ok, give me what i wanted, a midsize. they said no, and downgraded me to a compact. i had 2 skaters and a coach with gear to ferry around, and this wasn't acceptable. what it amounted to is that they claimed i couldn't have any car but compact for $256, despite i had a contract from orbitz. it was late and my 12 year old and i were exhausted, but i stilled called orbitz (i CONFIRMED the night before and talked to jason) talked to jason again, and then he talked to thrifty and nothing was done by either. they tried to offer a voucher, but we don't rent in the winter at all (we're in AK) so i said "its not over", took the midsize and left after an hour with a midsize suv. they charged me $70 more. i called orbitz the next day, and thrifty and still neither would do anything (i'll call you back was the answer and they never did). so i called the next day to orbitz and they contacted thrifty, and even they said they should make it right, but thrifty said i could bring the vehicle back. finally orbitz said if i faxed them THEIR contract, they would take $35 off. i rolled my eyes and again said that it wasn't over. after talking to tons of other skater parents (one being an attorney), i called bank of america and they had charged my account not $70, but a total of $390!!!! instead of $256! i immedietly said i'm contesting this charge, and here i am! i will NOT pay this, now its too late, and still they charged me something different when i brought the suv back. i also told them before i rented the car before i left on the trip that i only needed it for 6 days instead of 7, and they said they were going charge me $25 to give it back a day sooner. i will NEVER EVER do business with either company!!!
