Would like "compensation fee" refunded

Orbitz charged me the hotel compensation fee the hotel owed Orbitz. I was charged $396 for booking through Orbitz and the hotel only charged $319 according to the invoice. Why should the customer pay the compensation fee, isn't Orbitz supposed to be there for online deals. I will only ever book directly with the hotel, airline, or rental agency I am dealing with from now on and I will make sure my friends know why. I should be refunded the $77.
