Yep they are lying thieves. They try to put, not refunding your money, or even partially your money, on the hotel and that is a lie. I booked one, last minute overnight, at 1am,for same day, & I tried to cancel by noon, because of unforeseen issues with the traveling party , and they told me that the money they won't give me back, "goes to the hotel" and that " it is the hotel's policy that they honor"! So, I called hotel about cancellation and they said they have no issues with cancelation and that the money orbitz won't refund me is not money going to the hotel, it's the money orbitz keeps. So I call back orbitz and she tells me she will call hotel to verify what I'm saying, gets back on the phone and lies again says lady from hotel, same one I had talked to 15 minutes previously said that they cannot refund me my money!. I called her out on her lies and 3way called the hotel, yes with orbitz on phone, and lady from hotel said, FIRMLY and unhappy with orbitz's LIES, that she never said they can't refund me, that it's between orbitz and me! when the orbitz rep asked about the fee, she told her that the only thing she stated to her is that the hotel may still charge the fee for the booking, that's all, that she was lying about the refund!! Omg I told them I would pay The FEE. GIVE ME BACK THE REST OF MY MONEY minus the fee. PERIOD. I WAS ON HOLD FOR 1:40 more minutes, to a manager who was going to call the hotel worker again to verify what I was saying, are you kidding ME??? what a waste of a day dealing with this shady company. They are NOT ONLY liars but they are thieves!! It clearly states on their website that it is the "hotels policy" to not refund any money to you, if you cancel!! Even when the hotel confirmed, three different times, that the money is not their money nor is it their policy!!! It's clear, that orbitz is the one that keeps all of your money but tries to blame it on the hotel!!! I mean didn't the lady feel dumb being busted in a lie twice? How can they get away with this lying and stealing customers money!!' I will stay at that hotel, right up the road, that was meant for someone out of town, just to make sure the hotel gets most of the money now!!! I will never use Orbitz ever again, and I will waste a lot of time bashing them all over the Internet and calling them out for exactly what they are! I honestly, have never in my 42 years had an issue canceling a hotel, ever!!! They can't keep money that's not theirs, period!! They definitely can't pretend that " the hotel is the one that takes the money and doesn't except cancellations", especially when it clearly states, in writing, that they are going by hotel policy and when you go to the hotel's website their policy is nothing of the sort!!! Arg. I'm livid.
